tarting a website or blog with no experience, can be very intimidating.
There is a lot of little details that should be met in order to start your website on the right track.
I have listed a quick guide below to help you set the proper foundation to begin getting followers quickly, speed up the process of being indexed by Google, being found easier on search engines, to name a few.
Before you spend a dime you should do your due diligence on Keyword Research. You have a much better chance of having a successful website or blog if you find and Place Your Keywords in the right Places.
So if you purchase a Domain to soon it could be a costly and time-consuming mistake.
You need to know what people are searching for and what words they are to using to search for a particular item or question.
One word can be the difference in 10,000 people or 1,000 people searching for what you have to offer!
That is why keyword research is so important but finding the right Keywords is just the first step. Below you will see why placement is also very important.
Choose The Right Domain and Hosting Service
You should decide exactly what you plan to do with your website.
Are you trying to build up an eCommerce site, are you selling your own products or using Drop Shipping services, are you planning on using affiliate links, are you building a site with no short-term income options but plan to sell it in the future etc.
There are a few different directions you can go. Some are better than others depending on what you are trying to accomplish with your site.
Hopefully the List below will help with your decision making on finding the right Host at the right price.
Place Your Keyword in the Right Places
You did your research and have found some really great Keywords but that is not enough.
When someone searches for a phrase, the first thing that engines look at is your sites URL, title and description. So, it’s safe to say that your keyword phrase should be placed in these areas right…RIGHT!
This is not a set in stone rule but through my research, sites that practice this still end up on the first page of Google, even if they have a low Page Rank.
Being on the first page of Google should be one of your goals. You want as much traffic as possible and the first page, preferably the #1 spot is where you want to be.
Placing your Keywords in the right places and the right amount of times is one simple way to help your odds of getting there faster, why not?
The more content the better but if you are starting a new website then you will not have a lot of content at first.
You should still have a certain amount of content to get started in the right direction.
Google loves fresh content. So give Google just the right amount for him to notice you.
Launching your site with only your logo and “Website Under Construction” will not do.
Your home page should have at least 350 words on it. Give Google something to get excited about.
If you are starting a blog you should have a minimum of 7-10 post ready to go with a minimum of 400 words per post.
Whether your site has 7 post or 700, you should always be sure that you are adding Value for your readers.
You add Value by being detailed, supportive and helping your readers as much as possible with their need.
By adding value you will get all the things you want to start to generate out of your site. Prepare for the Backlinks, Email Subscribers, Followers, Shares etc.
These things will also help you get to the #1 spot on Google.
Be sure to have each post Keyword Optimized but only after you have written the post for your readers.
Add Outbound Links
When starting out, some of the most valuable readers you can start to generate are other bloggers.
You want backlinks, so if gain attention from other bloggers then you are on your way to getting backlinks, building relationships and guest posting.
You will do a lot of monitoring of your site. One way they stay on top of who mentions them online is with Google Alerts. Even if they don’t give you a backlink, add the Backlink yourself by leaving a comment thanking them etc.
Outbound links can lead to you getting a mention on a post, that is a good sign. At least you know they are paying attention to what you have to say and think it is Valuable enough to give you a mention you.
Adding Value goes beyond your own content. Even your links need to be relevant and useful to your readers.
Don’t add random Links to your site unless absolutely necessary but be sure to add a rel=”no follow” tag to the link.
Submit and Verify Your Website
The day your website launches you should start submitting and verifying your website with all the major search engines.
If you are using WordPress there are some great plugins that will make it easy to generate and submit your sitemaps on a regular basis.
Submitting and verifying your site will help get it indexed faster. This means that these search engines will know what you’re offering on your site and what type of people to send there when using search.
This does not make it happen over night and there is no way of telling when it will finally happen but with all the websites popping up and being updated on the regular and little bit helps.
Keep In Touch With Your Audience
There is a lot of information that is shared online. So when you get a visitor who comes to your site and falls in love, give him a way to be reminded that you are there.
Add things like Add This, an RSS Feed, Email Subscription and Social Links to your social Media accounts and any other of the tools that keep us from doing all the work ourselves.
Ideally, they should be somewhere Above The Fold (visible without having to scroll down
This list can be used no matter what your niche may be.
Remember that building a site takes time. Getting a ton of followers, backlinks and high Page Rank will come over an unknown period time.
There are No quick fixes for this and if someone is claiming otherwise, be careful.
